All Ages Open Studio - Bring your OWN Project

We’re in our new space at 117 W Orange Ave in Downtown Foley and we have a LOT more space than our cute little courtyard space. So not only do we have room for you to come in and pick what you want to paint from our canvases, jewelry, wood cutouts and more, but we also have enough space during Open Studio for those who have their own art supplies but are just looking for a space to work on their art and maybe get some tips from our studio staff along the way.

For a $10 studio fee (think of it as a day pass to our creative space), you can bring your own art or craft project in to work on. This is a great option for those living in a rental or an RV who either don’t have room to create or are worried about paint spills. If you’ve been to our studio, you know that we don’t sweat it if we get a little paint on the table!

This weekend we had an artist bring in his watercolors, brushes and watercolor paper just to get out of the house and have a relaxing place to paint. We also talked with a homeschool mom who’s planning to bring in some air dry clay so we can help her make a hand bowl traced from her daughter’s hands.

Third Thursdays in Downtown Foley

November’s Third Thursday (the 21st) will be our first at our new location in the purple building at 117 W Orange Ave. We’ll have free Christmas Projects to paint or make as we invite you to come check out our bigger studio space just a couple doors down from where we were in the courtyard.

This is fun for all ages as we have Christmas Ornaments to paint, Christmas Bracelets to make or Christmas Necklaces to paint. First one is free - you’re welcome to make as many more as you like for just $5 ea.

We've MOVED!!

We are now (finally) in our new space at 117 W Orange Ave (the purple building). We’re so excited to be facing the street so we can see so much of what’s going on in Downtown Foley. We’re also loving the buzz over at our new neighbors Black Cat Vegan Bakery and Cheeseburger Randy’s and we’ve got the studio set up so people can enter through the back or the front doors so feel free to wander over after you get some good eats to come check us out Thursday-Sunday from 2pm-8pm.

With our new space we’re introducing new hours. Thursdays and Sundays the whole 2pm-8pm time will be All Ages Walk-in Open Studio to drop in and art (also Saturdays 2pm-6pm). We’ll still Glow Paint on Fridays now from 4pm-6pm and we’ve added Friday and Saturday night Adult BYOB Paint & Sip (just like the old days in Midtown Mobile!).

Outside of those hours we’ll be open by appointment for Private Paint Parties.

Looking for a FUN Fundraiser that gets results?

Host an evening of Glow Painting!

100 painters = $500 to your group!

You pick a date (on a Mon, Tues or Wed) and we schedule the event between 4pm-9pm. We provide tickets for you to sell or set up online ticket sales (whichever option works best for your participants). Tickets are linked to reservations on the hour and half-hour so people know when to arrive for their seats.

Kids and adults can Glow Paint - all tickets are $15 with $5 of every ticket going to your school, team or church youth group. We can seat up to 30 painters every 30 min so in one evening from 4pm-9pm we can host up to 300 painters. If you’re expecting more than 300 participants, we can schedule multiple nights to accommodate all of your participants.

To host a Glow Paint Party Fundraiser, your organization must pre-sell a minimum of 50 tickets ensuring your group makes at least $250 for the event.

Want A Fundraiser for Teens and Adults?

Host an Earring, Keychain & Bookmark Paint Party

Painting Earrings, Keychains and Bookmarks is a fun event for teens and adults looking for a creative fundraiser. The photos below show some samples of the many creative options of this party. The cost for participants is just $10 per pair of earrings, keychain or bookmark and your organization gets $2.50 per item. When we have these parties, some participants have so much fun they decide to paint more than one item so while you pre-sell tickets for $10 each, they can choose to pay the day of the party to paint more (and your organization still gets $2.50 on each $10 item).

We can seat up to 30 participants at a time at this event and most people take about 30-45 min to paint. If you’re expecting more than 30 participants we can offer reservations at various times throughout the event (like a restaurant) or it can be like an open house party where people can drop in any time but possibly have to wait for an open seat.

To host an Earring, Keychain & Bookmark Paint Party Fundraiser, your organization must pre-sell a minimum of 30 tickets. Like the Glow Paint Fundraiser, we schedule on Mon, Tues or Wed, but offer flexibility of a morning, afternoon or evening event based on your group preference and how many tickets are sold.

Birthday Paint Parties for All Ages

Birthday Paint Parties are a great way to celebrate at any age! Our party packages are ideal for PK & Elementary-age kids, but we also host Birthday Paint Parties for teens and adults. Since most teens and adults have smaller groups attend, instead of a party package, we offer ala carte pricing (pick what you want to paint and pay per person).

Book our full studio in Downtown Foley for your child’s Birthday Paint Party. We are in our new space with LOTS more room to paint and party!

Choose from kids canvas painting with washable kids paints either using regular (including sparkly colors - with lights on) or glow paint (lights off). Add kids bracelet making to stretch the fun for just $5 ea.

Additional arty party options at this price include painting wooden birdhouses, wood bead bracelets, kids wood cutouts or a mix & match of any of our $15 Open Studio painting items*.

Kids Birthday Party reservations are for a private party where you are welcome to bring cupcakes, drinks and other birthday treats to enjoy after they paint. If you’d like, the birthday child can also open gifts at their party.

Pricing is $150 Party Package for UP to 10 kids

We reserve two hours for your party which we find is plenty of time for painting, eating, opening presents and photos. Younger kids paint FAST so they often finish up in an hour or less. If you want the party to last a full 2 hours we recommend adding on a second painting option for the kids (feel free to ask about this when you book your party as we have add-on options ranging from $5-15 per child).

Our party package is priced for 10 children even if you don’t have that many attend. If you aren’t planning for that large of a group, you’re welcome to reserve a table during our Open Studio hours, bring birthday treats and pick what you want to paint from the same kids paint options as our birthday parties - it’s just not a private event (think going to a restaurant for your birthday - you’re at your own table but didn’t reserve the whole restaurant :)

*The wood paints are not washable paints, but we do provide aprons. We strongly recommend kids washable paint canvases (regular or glow paint) for ages 4-7.

What Can I Paint if I Schedule a Paint Party?

This is the most asked question we get from customers and it’s because we aren’t JUST a Canvas Paint & Sip studio. Of course we offer Adult BYOB Paint & Sip with canvas paintings. But while we do offer the option of a step-by-step class where everyone in your party paints the same thing (like the chain studios); we also offer a menu of other painting options so that everyone in your party can paint something different.

With our canvas paintings, everyone in your party can choose their own picture and we’ll pencil sketch it onto your canvas and give individualized instructions to each person as needed.

But besides canvas painting, we have a wide variety of wood earrings, keychains and other jewelry options to paint; we have wood cutouts with cute designs etched onto them , we have textured block paintings, acrylic pour coasters, wine glasses, oyster shells and much more! Whether it’s celebrating a birthday, making memories on a beach trip or just because, we have plenty of fun DIY Gift Ideas to come in and paint or make at Paint Party Studios. Starting at $10 to paint earrings or make Swifty bracelets or $15 to paint wood initial bangles, a cute pot with succulent candle or a pour paint coaster, we’ve got plenty of fun arty projects for all ages.

New Evening Classes in July

We’ve got new Evening Classes in July on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (though the 4th is mixing things up a bit this first week).

This week we’ll have our Two for Tuesday Adult BYOB Paint & Sip. Get half off our small ($30) adult canvas or any of our in-stock adult wood cutouts ($20-$45). Arrive anytime between 5-7pm and we’ll stay open until 8-ish so you can finish painting. Ages 12+ are welcome to join us on Tuesday evenings. Choose a wood cutout or pick a canvas picture from our lookbook when you arrive.

Wednesday we have our Happy Art Hour from 5-6pm where each week we’ll have a different small beginner-friendly mixed media painting project for $10-15. Again ages 12+ are welcome to this event and you can bring something to sip (those 21+ can bring adult beverages).

Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30pm is our Adult Mixed Media Class. Check our Facebook or website calendar for each week’s class - on 7/3 we’ll have our Beach Shadowbox Class for $25 per person. These classes range from $20-$40 depending on what we’re painting.

We’ll be closed on 7/4 but resume our Thursday Night Adult BYOB Paint & Sip on 7/11. At 5pm we’ll have a step-by-step guided canvas class ($30 sm or $40 lg) and at 6:30pm we’ll have a second seating where you can choose your own picture or paint any of our other Open Studio options.

Extending our Hours

You asked… we heard you! You want more opportunities to come paint without needing to get a group together first. So we’re introducing Saturday Walk-in Make & Take from 1-5pm starting this Saturday, June 15th and for the rest of June & July. We’ll also be adding more evening Adult BYOB Paint & Sip classes so follow our socials for updates on those as well.

Girls Night Third Thursday Luau

We are partnering with Raw Amor Jewelry and Fish River Furnishings & Art Gallery to bring you the first of many Girls Night Third Thursdays. This month our theme is Luau and we encourage attendees to dress with a tropical theme. There will be wine tasting at Fish River Furnishings & Art Gallery, Paint Party Studios will have tropical finger foods and Raw Amor Jewelry will have some tropical drinks. This event is free to attend and feel free to shop each of the host stores. Island Girls Boutique will have a pop-up shop as part of our event as well.

At Paint Party Studios, we’ll have a $10 Tropical Earring Making project for those who would like to get creative.

I’ve had a number of people asking about our June schedule for adults and older kids. From 3:00-5:00pm on TWThF we have All Ages Walk-in Make & Take - also known as Open Studio. This is a great time for individual or small groups of adults or older kids to come in to paint with us (2-4 people).

During Open Studio you are welcome to paint Adult Canvases ($30 sm or $40 lg) or chose from any of our wood painting options ranging from earrings, keychains and bracelets to birdhouses, wood cutouts and more. We’re always adding new items to our Make & Take options.

If you have a group of 4-5 or more people, please text 251-343-2423 and Courtney will be happy to schedule a private appointment for you outside of the open studio times on weekday evenings or day or evening times on Saturday or Sunday.

And yes, for our beach visitors we do accept last-minute rainy day reservations if we are not already booked up with other groups. Message us on social media or text Courtney at 251-343-2423.

eGift Cards Available

We’ve had a lot of calls recently about gifting an arty experience with Paint Party Studios so our eGift Cards are now available through Square. You can purchase different amounts and once you’re on the Square eGift Card page, there’s also a link to add more $ to the account or to check the balance.

Not sure how much to gift? Many of our kids items are $15 each to paint so if you want to treat a child to something like Friday Glow Paint or All Ages Make & Take $15 will cover one child. If you want to let them bring a friend, we have the $30 option or $60 if you want them to be able to bring more friends or come multiple times.

For adults, prices range from $10-45, but Adult Sip & Paint Canvases are $30 sm or $40 lg so we offer multiples of those amounts. Of course you can buy $60 or $80 cards to let the person you’re gifting bring a friend.

Upcoming June Events

It has been almost exactly 4 years since I was moving Paint Party Studios out of our location on Upham St in Midtown Mobile and into my home studio to offer paint-at-home kits and try to plan for what was to come next. A big thanks to all of you that ordered from me and met me at Bucees and Costco for your family paint party, kids birthday paint party and couples paint date night at home kits! I also made canvas painting videos, shipped lots of custom canvas kits and had some Zoom paint parties. As I said in that 2020 blog post announcing the closing of the Midtown location, stay tuned and see what a wild, creative adventure it will be…

Well it has been. I worked out of my home for almost a year while also volunteering at the Holy Spirit Thrift Store. In February 2021 I had my first big socially distanced church event, a Family Valentine’s Paint Party in Mobile and gradually returned to church and school parties throughout that year.

In the fall of 2021 I signed a lease with OWA to reopen Paint Party Studios there. We ran into multiple hurdles but finally were able to again start hosting in-studio paint parties in February 2022. We had many wonderful customers come in for birthday parties, teambuilding paint parties, paint & sip dates and just painting for the fun of it as well as shopping our retail arty gifts and local art. While we learned from the experience and met some wonderful customers, that location was not a good fit for us and we were grateful OWA let us out of our lease so we could move on.

We are now located in Orange Blossom Square in Downtown Foley in the courtyard behind Hollis Furniture where we share a space with Raw Amor Jewelry. I feel so blessed to finally feel like the studio has a home again. As much as I miss my amazing Midtown customers on Upham Street, after all the ups and downs of the last 4 years, I’m grateful to have landed in Downtown Foley where the neighboring businesses and the city officials are so incredibly supportive of the local businesses.

As we roll into summer I’m excited to announce we’ll have walk-in hours from 1-5pm on Tues-Friday. The first half hour (1:00-1:30pm) will feature a daily art project for littles ages 3-7; from 2:00-3:00pm we’ll have a daily art project for kids 8-12 and from 3:00-5:00pm we’ll have All Ages Make & Take where you can choose whatever you want to paint from our many wood and canvas options. Friday Glow Paint will have seatings at 5:30pm and 6:00pm (additional seatings will be added as needed). We will continue to be open by appointment after 5pm on weekdays and all day Sat & Sun. After hinting to many of you about introducing candlemaking, I’m pleased to announce that candle maker Rhonda Harbison of The Prickly Pinecone will be teaching a Candle Making Class at Paint Party Studios on Sunday, June 23rd from 2-4pm. Please visit her website to register.

In addition to being almost exactly 4 years since moving out of our Upham Street location, I’m also coming up on 10 years of owning the studio (in July). As I reflect on these anniversaries, I’m grateful for how blessed I am to still be in business and have the best job in the world being able to share these special occasions with my amazing customers! We’re meeting new customers every week and still seeing some of our Mobile customers at school & church paint parties and even when some make the trip to see us in Foley! It’s because of all of you that Paint Party Studios is still here and going strong and I thank you all!!

Starting a new chapter for Paint Party Studios

It’s official. Paint Party Studios has gone online working out of my home studio. We’ll be posting instructional art videos and blog tutorials as well as offering kits and supplies to create your own art at home. Sometimes life gives us lemons, but we’re making creative lemonade here at Paint Party Studios. Change doesn’t always come easy so please be patient as this summer is a time of planting seeds of new growth for the studio. Opening in 2008, Paint Party Studios turns 12 this year, so in a way it’s only natural as we hit the start of adolescence there will be big changes ahead.

Even before Covid19 forced us to revise our business plan, there was a growing shift in the art studio industry towards more mixed media and thinking outside the normal paint and sip. Attending industry conferences for the last couple of years, we came home with so many ideas that we just haven’t had time to implement at the studio. Well here we are now, with this huge disruption that reads like a sign we were supposed to stop and take stock and find a way to start implementing all the new and creative new ideas we’ve been working on behind the scenes.

So stay tuned and see what a wild, creative adventure it will be.

And in the meantime, we’ll be calling on some of our independent art studio friends around the country who are shipping their own creative kits to help add to our offerings while we shift to our new format.

The hardest part of this is not seeing our wonderful customers every week in the studio, but when social distancing guidelines allow, we’ll be back in schools, churches and business teambuilding and Christmas parties. In the meantime watch for online lessons and Zoom art parties.
