We’re studying Vincent Van Gogh and the art element of texture this week and learning about creating texture in our art. We painted with all kinds of tools on Wednesday to create texture: sponges, paint brushes, plastic knives and forks, palette knives, scraps of aluminium foil, the eraser-end of old pencils and even plain old brushes.
The kids art campers were so creative with their textures for their sunflower petals – they had a great time making all kids of patterns and learning to paint outside the box! Here’s one of our finished sunflowers and below you can see we had a pretty creative workspace going. The last picture shows all the non-traditional art tools we were using after we got cleaned up.
Each week we study an art element and a famous painter and learn how to combine our art element into works inspired by our feature painter. There are only two weeks left of art camp – the week of July 21st and the week of August 4th and we do have some seats available. Go to our online registration before it’s too late.
