Moms Paint! Moms Paint! – a chance for Moms to find their inner artist while the kids rehearse for Elf! Thursday afternoons during Azalea City Center for the Arts Elf! rehearsal – come get creative with other ACCA Moms and caregivers.
Starts the last week in October (10/29) – we’ll have the option of trying out a new painting technique as part of a class, choose your own canvas and paint an acrylic painting from our gallery or bring in a pinterest idea and we’ll sketch it for you on a canvas. Whatever you choose – it’s a chance for Moms to relax and have some fun while the kids are at rehearsal.

Wanted to do something abstract but when it was finished – even with the metallic gold it just wasn’t popping for me – so I added a little shimmer to it to make it pop. Customers of all ages love adding glitter to their painting and why not? We’re a fun art place – we don’t worry about artistic rules!
Abstracts are especially fun in that we can use any colors we want and just see where the paint takes us. We don’t have to color inside the lines and we can add whatever bling to it we want.
Come in this Friday night or Saturday afternoon or evening to paint your own unique masterpiece. Call 251-343-2423 for reservations.
We had a request over the weekend for more coffee paintings in our gallery so this is the first of some new images perfect for a kitchen wall or breakfast nook.
We love your feedback in coming up with new ideas for our gallery. Just use our Contact tab at the top of our website to email us with questions and suggestions for new ideas for our Open Studio gallery of images. Just this last weekend customers came up with five new original ideas to paint including some undersea creatures, a jazzy abstract and an abstract lady in a red hat.
Come in and see what fun new ideas we can help you come up with for your next paint party. Call 251-343-2423 for reservations.
Had some fun playing around with more heavy body paints with this whimsical floral that makes me think “Lollipop Flowers.”
The heavy body paints allow us to add a little texture for a 3D effect on paintings. This is something we’ll be playing around with in our upcoming Thursday afternoon painting classes that start the last week in October.

We had a wonderful Sunday afternoon of paint parties today. We celebrated a 66th birthday and had a baby shower back-to-back. We were so busy, today’s painting a day #4 is a little late to post – but here it is. This seahorse was inspired by the under-the-sea theme of today’s birthday and uses a tissue paper textured canvas and some sponge painting with a little shimmer of metallic gold at the end.
It’s so much fun for us to help you celebrate special occasions with a paint party and we heard more than once today how painting together not only is a memorable way to celebrate, but there’s always the painting as a keepsake to remember special times with friends and family.
Call us at 251-343-2423 to schedule your own special paint party with us.
Tonight (10/3) is Date Night Adult Open Studio – $20 per person to paint. And with this fall weather we’re having – it’s feeling like football season so we’re getting in the team spirit with our Painting a Day #3. This one is for a good friend who is a die-hard Alabama fan.
Among our staff artists we have Alabama, Auburn and LSU fans – so we can help you paint no matter what your team.
So after today’s afternoon games, there’s time to come in tonight and paint something to show your team spirit (or whatever you choose). Call us at 251-343-2423 to save your seats.
The weather turned to Autumn quickly in the last couple of days so here’s a fall-inspired floral for our ARTober Paint a Day #2. This includes a little bit of heavy body acrylic on the petals – the background was a mix of paints that were left over from another painting – lots of oranges, yellow and browns mixed together.
We’re always saying in the studio “Acrylic is very forgiving – if we do something we don’t like – we can always paint over it.” Even the kids have picked up on that saying! This painting is an example of that – I painted the stems at another angle and it just wasn’t working for me so I went back over them with the background colors and did them again until I got them in a position I liked.
This is part of the painting process and why we like using acrylics at Paint Party Studios. It allows us to get a do-over if our painting starts to go in a direction we don’t like!
We are always looking for new painting ideas at Paint Party Studios and we usually have at least 20 new gallery images each month – but for ARTober we are going to focus our efforts and try to post a painting a day to our blog.
Some of these will be introduced into our Open Studio gallery while others are us trying some experimental techniques for upcoming classes at our Midtown and Daphne studios later this month. We’ll be using materials not available in Open Studio sessions as we experiment with new textures and painting mediums.
Today’s painting is an experimental technique which starts with a base of tissue over the canvas and incorporates heavy body paints for the flower and metallic paints to give the background some shimmer. For more information about upcoming classes like us on Facebook and sign up for our newsletter.
We’re getting into the Halloween Spirit with some new spooky gallery images and great ARTober specials including a $25 Turkey Door Hanger Night this Friday 10/2; a $10 wood pumpkin picture frame, football picture frame and wood helmet ornament painting event for kids on Friday 10/23; all-day Halloween special pricing; and a 20% off Open Studio newsletter coupon.
