Positive-Negative Painting in Art Camp

We’re Enjoying Our Last Week of Summer Art Camp

Week 8 Positive Negative Project6 We had some great young artists in the studio today in our last week of Kids Summer Art Camp. They were learning about positive and negative space. We got some inspiration from Georgia O’Keeffe’s abstract paintings to paint a background on our paper. Then we chose a shape to cut out on a small square and painted the positive and negative of our shape. The end result was a fun checkerboard of painting to illustrate to our young artists the concept of positive and negative space.

Kudos to Peyton for incorporating a Georgia O’Keeffe-inspired skull shape into his art (see the one to the right)!

Though this is the last week of Kids Summer Art Camp, we’ll have Afterschool Art Classes beginning in September (registration the last week of August) for ages 6+ at the Azalea City Center for the Arts (at Dauphin and I-65).
